Any oral health problem that’s causing you pain, discomfort, or bleeding demands emergency care. That means lots of things qualify. Dental trauma like a cracked or broken tooth is an emergency, but so are things like toothaches, lost fillings, or deep cuts to your gums. If you think your condition qualifies as an emergency, you’re probably right. So give us a call at 858-751-2221 to talk to our dental team and schedule your consultation right away.
First, give our team a call and tell us about the situation. We’ll determine whether you need immediate care, or if you can wait to come in at a more convenient time. If you need care urgently, we’ll do our best to fit you into the schedule right away.
If you’ve lost a tooth, recover it and rinse it with warm water. Grab it by the top (crown) not the bottom (root) to avoid damaging it. Store it in cold milk, and come to our office immediately. Knocked-out teeth must be replaced within 1-2 hours. If you’ve lost a piece of dental work like a crown, rinse it off and put it into a plastic bag, and bring it in with you to your appointment.
You can take medicine like acetaminophen (Tylenol) to help with pain. Icing the cheek near the affected area at 15-minute intervals can help with discomfort and swelling. If you’re bleeding, use gauze, a clean paper towel, or a cotton ball to soak up blood.
Sooner is always better when it comes to emergency dental care. Come into our office for your appointment as scheduled, and Dr. Stempfle will help you get the treatment you need to eliminate pain, protect your smile, and get back to your routine.
