What Are Veneers?

Veneers are tooth-shaped prostheses made of a durable porcelain ceramic material. They are meant to cover up the front chewing surfaces of your teeth. By doing so, they can cover up cosmetic problems like gaps in your teeth, misshapen and uneven teeth, stains, and more. Veneers look and feel just like real teeth, making them an ideal choice if you’re interested in cosmetic dentistry in San Diego. Contact Bespoke Dentistry today, and see if you’re a good candidate for treatment with veneers.

The Benefits Of Veneers

There are some good reasons that veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments. They have lots of unique benefits. They look and feel totally natural, and require minimal care beyond regular brushing and flossing. They're also extremely versatile, and can treat almost any cosmetic problem with your teeth.

Veneers are also very durable. With proper care, veneers can easily last 10-20 years or longer. And even if one of your veneers fails or breaks eventually, replacing it is really simple, so you can get back to smiling right away.

The Veneers Treatment Process

Initial Consultation

To begin the process, you’ll need to come to Bespoke Dentistry for a consultation with Dr. Leah Stempfle. She can assess your oral health and the problems with your smile, and help you decide if veneers are the best choice for your budget, your personal preferences, and your long-term oral health.

Tooth Prep & Temporary Veneers

Once you’re approved, you’ll come back for a follow-up. At this appointment, Dr. Stempfle will clean and numb your mouth. Then, she will use a dental drill to gently remove a very thin layer of enamel from each tooth that’s getting a veneer. This ensures your veneers don’t add bulk to your teeth, and exposing fresh enamel allows your veneers to bond tightly to your teeth, too. Then, she will take impressions of your teeth and place a set of temporary veneers on your teeth to protect them until your next appointment.

Final Veneer Placement

It will take about 2-3 weeks for our lab partners to build your permanent porcelain veneers. Once they're done, you’ll come back to our office for your final appointment. Dr. Stempfle will remove your temporaries, then check your permanent veneers to make sure they fit perfectly. Then, she will use dental cement to bond them in place permanently, and you’ll be sent home to enjoy your new smile.

Am I A Good Candidate For Veneers?

If you have a healthy mouth but have some aesthetic issues with your smile, veneers may be right for you. They can treat things like gapped teeth, misshapen teeth, stains, and much more. To find out if you’re a good candidate, contact Bespoke Dentistry today for a consultation with Dr. Stempfle.

How To Care For Your Veneers & What To Avoid

Brush & Floss Regularly
For the most part, you can treat your veneers just like normal teeth. Make sure you brush twice a day for 2 minutes with fluoride toothpaste, and floss once per day.
See the dentist every 3-6 months
You also should come and see Dr. Stempfle every six months for a checkup. Routine teeth cleanings and oral exams keep your veneers and your natural teeth healthy.
Avoid Chewing Hard Foods With Veneers
Don’t chew really hard foods like nuts, popcorn kernels, or ice with your veneers. Chewing really hard foods with your veneers may make them more likely to loosen or break over time.
Don’t Use Your Teeth As Tools
Your teeth are for chewing. Don’t use them to open packages, tear tape, open bottles, or for any purposes other than chewing. You could damage your veneers and your natural teeth, too.
